Lynn Rae joins me to  share her personal struggle with bipolar disorder and overcoming  severe depression and mania while being a mother and a wife.

Lynn discusses the genetic link to bipolar in her family and shares her concerns about passing on the genetic disposition towards bi-polar for her children.

Although leaving her marriage helped her manage her depression and manic episodes, she did attempt suicide due to the hallucinations and delusions.

Due to the severity of her illness, Lynn was forced to leave her children with her husband while she worked on healing.

Lynn shares the steps she took to manage her bipolar and talks about her current struggles with dating and intimacy.

Despite being told by 2 psychiatrists that she will never work again, Lynn has since gone back to work and has written 2 books.

The 7 F’s (Fun, friends, Family, fulfillment, Faith, fitness, finances) and Reading self help books (When I say No I feel Guilty, and Boundaries), managing stress,  having affirmations, finding purpose in her life, and going to therapy and applying Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) strategies played a huge role in her recovery along with being consistent with her medication.
