Stress can literally kill us if left untreated or unmanaged.

Stress will also make it impossible for us to heal since it shuts down our immune system and puts us in the fight or flight mode.  This chronic level of stress creates barriers for healing.

Amber K. Reed,  a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach, joins me to talk about the importance of creating a safe space for your body so it can start the healing process.

Her own health challenges forced Amber to address stress directly and through the process she has been trained in modalities that focus on stress management directly.

Learning to manage her own stress and making lifestyle changes at the gut level helped her heal from fibromyalgia, inflammation, and mental health distress.

In this episode, Amber  breaks down the difference between the sympathetic nervous system and the para-sympathetic nervous system and the role they play in our health and well being.

There’s a connection between our gut and our stress response and our interpretation of stress impacts our gut and digestion more than the actual stressor.

Amber also teaches us about the impact the Vagus nerve, a cranial nerve that starts at the base of our spine and touches every organ in our body, has on our ability to manage stress.  Learning to activate the vagus nerve can improve our physical and mental health.

Amber can be contacted at Balanced Energies via email, the web, or Instagram or Facebook.
